Austal USA Named 2016 Alabama Large Manufacturer of the Year

Mobile, Ala. – Austal USA was named Alabama’s manufacturer of the year by the Alabama Technology Network and the Business Council of Alabama during a ceremony in Montgomery, Ala., Tuesday 12 April 2016. This makes Austal a three-time honoree in the award’s 16-year history; once as a medium company and twice as a large company.

Austal Employees Craig Savage and Mike Bell with AL Senator Bill Hightower.

The Alabama Technology Network and the Business Council of Alabama recognize companies annually with this award recognizing the individuals and companies that bring uncompromising excellence to Alabama manufacturing. Applicants are judged on financial growth, workforce enhancement, market and manufacturing leadership, and leadership development.

“We’re honored to receive this award and share it with our supporters at the City, County and State levels, including Senator Bill Hightower who played a key part in nominating us for this award,” Craig Perciavalle, president of Austal USA said. “This award is a direct reflection of the incredibly talented men and women who make up Austal USA.”

Austal USA  serves as prime contractor for the U.S. Navy under a $1.6 billion 10-ship block-buy contract to build Expeditionary Fast Transport vessels (EPF) and a contract worth over $3.5 billion to build 11 Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ships (LCS). The company employs over 4,000 people.
