Austal Staff Support Lights For Lifeline

As a proud supporter of Lifeline Western Australia’s ‘Lights for Lifeline’ program, Austal Limited has once again contributed an amount of AU$3,000 for 2015 - fully funding the training of one accredited Telephone Crisis Support volunteer to operate the essential 13 11 14 line.

In December 2015, Austal staff held a barbeque and raffle at the Henderson, Western Australia shipyard to raise an extra $1,000 for the ‘Lights for Lifeline’ appeal.

Austal staff also made time during the busy festive season to provide gift-wrapping services at the Cockburn Gateway Shopping Centre, with all proceeds going to Lifeline Western Australia.

Lifeline Western Australia is part of the national Lifeline network, a leading provider of suicide prevention services in Australia. In 2015 over 57,000 West Australians made calls to Lifeline, an increase of 48% since 2010.

Lifeline relies on community contributions to provide invaluable suicide prevention and crisis support services:

  • 24/7 Telephone Crisis Support - 13 11 14
  • Online Crisis Support Chat service via http://crisischat.lifelinewa.org.au available to all Western Australians 7pm – 4.30am (AWST)
  • Community education forums that increase understanding of suicide prevention and mental health within the community and workplace

Lifeline WA has a vision of working towards creating communities free of suicide. For more information on the Lights for Lifeline appeal visit https://lights.org.au/. To donate or volunteer, please visit http://www.lifelinewa.org.au/

If you or anyone you know needs help please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
