17 June 2000Austal has more than 20-years experience in the design and construction of small to medium size vessels, with nearly half of its 200 deliveries being vessels less than 40 metres in length.

The variety of vessel sizes, capacity, speed and hull forms reflects Austal’s ability to customise a solution that best fits operational requirements while reducing running and acquisition costs.
Austal's vast experience in aluminium vessel design enables us to accurately predict vessel performance including speed, passenger comfort/motion and manoeuvring characteristics enabling a thorough assessment and optimisation of vessel options such as hull type (monohull, catamaran or trimaran), hull shape, dimensions, layout and propulsion configuration, while also taking into account owner's specific preferences. This means that the vessel will perform its intended role better than a generic 'standard' design.
As a result, operators of small and medium sized vessels benefit from the same level of technical and commercial "know-how" afforded to owners of the larger ferry and naval platforms for which Austal is also increasingly well known.
